Qionghai Overview

Qionghai City locates in the eastern region of Hanan Island, at the downstream of Wanquan River. It is apart 86 kilometers from Haikou City which is the provincial capital of Hainan Province, is apart 163 kilometers from Sanya City of south, is apart 67 kilometers from Wanning City in the south, connects with Anding County and Tunchang County in the west, is close to Qinglan Harbor of Wenchang in the east. The inshore geography tilts to one side toward southeast from the northwest, the big part are the littoral low flat part. The geography mainly is constituted by the three parts of plain, mound and the mountainous country. It is governing 12 towns of Jiaji, Zhongyuan, Boao, Tanmen, Changpo, Wanquan, Tayang, Dalu, Yangjiang, Longjiang, Huishan and Shibi. The city area of Jiaji is the place where the city government located. The area of Boao Water City Special Programming Area is 41.8 square kilometers, which locates between N18.58'to 19.28', E110.07' to 110.40'. Qionghai City belongs to the tropical monsoon and ocean moist weather area, the average temperature of year is 24°C, the average of year rainfall is 2072 millimeters, the average sunshine of year is 2155 hours, the average radiation quantity is 118.99 kilocalories / square, there is no frost and snow of the whole year round.
It is 59.7 kilometers long from east to west; it is 56.4 kilometers of breadth from south to north. The area is 1692 square kilometers. There are 5 state-run farms, 1 Overseas Chinese Farm, 4 state-run local agriculture and forestry stations and a sea water farm. Horizontal interleave of inshore rivers, there are 27 rivers. There are main Wanquan River, Wenqu River, Jialang River, Tayang River, Bala River and Jiuqu River. Wanquan River rises in Fengmenling of the Five Fingers Mountain, flowing into the central part of the city from the Qiongzhong County, infusing into the South China Sea after flowing through 8 villages; the length of inshore flowwing is 81.2 kilometers. The Wenqu River rises in Shanjiling of Dingan County, the length of inshore flowwing is 11.55 kilometers, Jialang River rises in Lingjiao Lake of the Dingan County's southeast, the length of inshore flowwing is 23.5 kilometers. The Tayang River rises in Shima Village of the Dingan County's eastern region; the length of inshore flowwing is 53.1 kilometers. The Bala River rises in Zhongrui Farm in Dingan County; the length of inshore flowwing is 37.42 kilometers. Jiuqu River rises in Fangniuling where Qionghai and Wanning hand over the boundary, the length of inshore flowwing is 49.7 kilometers. The inshore coast line is long 44.4 kilometers. The main bays contain Bobie Harbor, Tanmen Harbor and Qingghe Harbor, which since are fishing bays and are the outward transportation ports. They can lead to the West Sand Islands, Sanya, Zhanjiang and Guangzhou from the water roads of ports, such as Tanmen, Bobie, Qingge etc.
